Ponzi Vineyards Growers

Ponzi Vineyards maintains long-term contracts with some of the finest grape growers in the Willamette Valley. Each of these vineyards produces fruit with special qualities and characteristics. Like an artist's palatte, these barrels are an important element in Winemaker Luisa Ponzi's creative resources as she crafts her masterful blends.

THISTLE VINEYARDS

Owners: Jon and Laura Jennison

Located in the Dundee Hills, the first vines were planted in 1998 by Jon and Laura Jennison. Grown in rich, red volcanic soil, the grapes are LIVE Certified Sustainable and cultivated using primarily organic methods. Luisa selects Thistle Vineyards fruit for the Ponzi Pinot Blanc in combination with our own grapes from the prized Aurora Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountain AVA.

ALLORO VINEYARDS

Owner: David Nemarnik

Located on a southwest-facing slope on Laurel Ridge in the Chehalem Mountains the 70 acres that make up Alloro Vineyards are at the center of a microclimate of temperate weather, where days are warm and sunny, and nights are cool. Alloro Vineyards, owned and managed by David Nemarnik, were planted in Laurelwood soil and rise from an elevation of 350 to 700. The rich mineral content of the soil, temperate climate and elevation have proven to be wonderful choices for developing the complexity, flavors and reflection of terroir, desired in quality Pinot Noir. Luisa uses fruit from Alloro Vineyards in many of her Pinot Noir blends, as well as their stunning Muscat for Ponzi Vino Gelato, an innovative ice wine. Alloro fruit is LIVE Certified Sustainable.

DION VINEYARDS

Owners: Ron and Joanne Johnson

Planted in 1971 by the Johnson family, Dion Vineyards boasts some of the region’s oldest and most sought out fruit. Facing a southern exposure, the vineyards were planted in mostly Laurelwood soils at around 500 feet. Most Ponzi Pinot Noir blends include fruit from Dion Vineyards. Luisa also uses 108 clone Chardonnay from Dion Vineyards in the stainless steel fermented Ponzi Chardonnay.
